ABOUT DEVELOPMENT AND ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT

The UC Riverside Development and Alumni Engagement team raises public awareness of UCR's excellence in research, teaching and service. DAE encourages, promotes, and secures public and private resources to support:

  • Recruitment and retention of world-class faculty.

    of California's diverse population.

ABOUT OUR VICE CHANCELLOR

Interim Vice Chancellor Jorge Ancona

Jorge Ancona is interim vice chancellor of Development and Alumni Engagement at UC Riverside, where he oversees Development, Alumni Engagement, and DAE Administrative Services. Since 2013, he has served as the assistant vice chancellor for Alumni Engagement and as the Executive Director of the UCR Alumni Association, working to engage and strengthen UC Riverside’s 160,000 alumni relationship with their alma mater.

Prior to joining UC Riverside, Ancona served as the assistant vice chancellor, alumni relations and executive director for the UCI Alumni Association at the University of California, Irvine. He also spent more than ten years at the University of California, Los Angeles working more than eight years for the UCLA Alumni Association as well as two years with Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools.  

Ancona served on the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s (CASE) Commission on Alumni Relations from 2013 - 2016 and as a co-chair for CASE’s 2015 and 2016 Senior Alumni Relations Professionals Institutes. He has presented for CASE’s Latin America in 2015, 2017, and 2019, and was a faculty member for two Minority Advancement Institutes in Washington, D.C. Ancona served on the Advisory Committee for CASE’s 2017 Global Summit and as one of two co-chairs leading an advisory group to establish CASE’s Opportunity and Inclusion Center. In 2024, Ancona served as Chair for the CASE Summit for Leaders in Advancement. Additionally, he has been an active member of the Council of Alumni Association Executives (CAAE) from 2004 - 2013 and 2016 - Present. In 2018, Ancona was elected to serve on the CAAE Board of Directors and was re-elected in 2022 to the CAAE Board of Directors as an Officer of the organization.
